Intro
Hi there, and welcome! I’m Dr. Emily Newton (she/her), a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts and Maryland (where I live). I’m passionate about creating a diagnostic experience that’s strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and genuinely supportive. My goal is to help you find clarity around whatever question has brought you to Prosper. I’ve had the privilege of working with autistic individuals and their families for over a decade. I’m so glad you’re here—and I look forward to working with you!
My motivation for working with autistic clients started when I was a 12-year-old peer buddy at a summer camp. I was lucky enough to be placed with a bunk of autistic campers, many of whom were nonspeaking or used other ways to communicate. That summer introduced me to the beauty of neurodiversity. My parents often tease me “who figures out what they want to do when they’re 12” – and I am proud that from then on, I knew this was the work I wanted to do—and I’ve never looked back.
I know that the assessment process can sometimes feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, valued, and truly heard. I want to get to know you—your strengths, your story, and what makes you who you are. Additionally, my clinical approach is grounded in cultural humility and built on deep respect for each person’s unique lived experience.
