About
Oh hi there! I'm Ellen Coble, a licensed psychologist in Florida. I currently live in Orlando and am originally from Nashville, Tennessee. As a provider, I find joy in helping my clients work towards creating a more self-compassionate and peaceful existence. One way to achieve this is through psychological assessment. I believe assessment can and should be therapeutic; testing results provide validation for your personal experiences and the testing data supplies "hard proof" against any negative thoughts/feelings that may be blocking you from your self-awareness and self-acceptance. I am excited to help you understand yourself better and appreciate yourself more!
As a result of both personal and professional experiences, I hold a fierce passion for working with the neurodivergent population. I have come to find that I tend to “think differently” from most people, which is an aspect of my functioning I began to appreciate more in myself only after being diagnosed with ADHD in my twenties. My adulthood diagnosis of neurodivergence not only helped me to stop being so hard on myself, but also it provided me with a new identity and a new sense of community. Throughout my years practicing as a clinical psychologist with neurodivergent clients, I have found that many people in the neurodivergent community grow up with unfair expectations for their brains to work in neurotypical ways. As a result of not fitting into the systems designed by- and for neurotypicals, undiagnosed neurodivergent people can engage in overly-harsh self-criticism and feel isolated. I am here to help you understand you're not alone and there's nothing "wrong" or "weird" about you! We will work together to help you learn about how your brain works, what strategies you can adopt to reach your full potential, and what you can do to finally quiet down that inner self-critic.
As a provider, I pride myself on my authenticity, my compassion, and my straight-forward approach to communicating with you, the client. I aim to create a collaborative atmosphere in which we work together as a team of experts: you, the expert on your own personal experience, + me, the testing and diagnostic expert. My approach to treatment prioritizes YOU: your needs, your feelings, and your goals. We will build upon the strengths you already have (but may be ignoring or discounting!) to reach your personal goals.
