About

Hello, and welcome! I’m Dr. Elizabeth Smith Han (she/her), a neurodivergent and biracial clinical psychologist licensed in California, Illinois, and Indiana. I speak English and conversational Korean, and my multicultural family background and experiences growing up across different environments have shaped my passion for providing compassionate, individualized care.I believe that therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, respected, and understood. I approach my work collaboratively and relationally, creating a space where you can show up as your authentic self without judgment or pressure to fit someone else’s expectations. I’m especially passionate about neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+-affirming, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care.As a psychologist, I’m honored to support individuals, couples, and families as they better understand themselves, navigate life’s transitions, and build on the strengths and wisdom they already possess. My goal is to meet you where you are and partner with you in creating a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and truly your own.

Education & Licensure
PsyD Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the APA accredited program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL; MA Master of Clinical Psychology from the APA accredited program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL; BA Bachelors in Psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent clients is deeply personal as well as professional. As a neurodivergent person with several neurodivergent family members, I have seen how meaningful it can be to feel understood, affirmed, and supported rather than pressured to fit into expectations that were not designed with you in mind. My own experiences navigating different cultures and environments have also shaped my appreciation for the many ways people experience, communicate, connect, and make sense of the world.I am drawn to neurodiversity-affirming care because I believe neurodivergent ways of being deserve curiosity, respect, and celebration—not simply correction. I want to help clients better understand themselves, recognize the strengths within their unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world, and build lives that feel authentic and sustainable to them. Whether we are exploring identity, relationships, masking, self-advocacy, or life transitions, my goal is to create a space where clients can feel safe being themselves and supported in discovering what it means for them to truly thrive.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I bring a compassionate, affirming, and strengths-based approach to therapy, grounded in the belief that each person has inherent strengths, wisdom, and capacity for growth. Rather than defining people by their challenges, I work collaboratively with clients to recognize, understand, and build upon the qualities and experiences that have helped them navigate life so far. I aim to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, valued, and accepted, and where they can explore their identities and experiences without judgment. My neurodivergent and biracial identity, as well as my experience in a multicultural family, informs my commitment to culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent-affirming care. Above all, I strive to meet each person where they are and support them in discovering and realizing their own definition of a meaningful, authentic, and fulfilling life.
