About

Hi! My name is Denise, I use she/her pronouns, and I am a psychologist licensed in New York, Ohio, and temporarily authorized to practice in California. I have spent the past 25 years providing therapy to clients with a range of presenting issues and identities, including folx with autism.  I especially like working with people in the LGBTQ+ community and I have lots of experience working with college students.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University, Masters of Psychology (Counseling) from Iowa State University, Bachelors in Psychology from University of Northern Iowa
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have enjoyed working with lots of clients who either have or are seeking autism diagnoses.  Over the past several years I have noticed that my clients are having more and more difficulty finding affordable, accessible resources for getting an autism diagnosis and/or for receiving specialized therapy.  I am excited to work with Prosper to help address this social justice issue and to be part of a positive solution for increasing access to support.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I feel so privileged to get to meet so many amazing and diverse people in my work and I take very seriously the trust that they put in me.  I work hard to understand each person's personal context and identities to ensure that the care I provide meets the needs of that particular person.  Part of the work for me is to ensure that the client and I are both honoring their unique strengths, abilities, and resources that they can utilize to continue in their personal journey.
