About

Hello, and welcome. I'm Dr. Danielle Dunchok, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Marin County, California. I believe that pursuing an autism evaluation is a deeply personal step, and I strive to create an experience where you feel respected, understood, and genuinely heard throughout the assessment process.

My goal is to provide evaluations that are both thorough and collaborative, recognizing that every person's experiences, strengths, and challenges are unique. I enjoy getting to know the whole person—not just the questions that bring them to an assessment—and helping clients gain greater clarity and understanding of themselves.

My clinical background includes private practice, college counseling, community mental health, and inpatient psychiatry, where I've worked with adolescents and adults from a wide range of backgrounds. Years of providing psychotherapy have strengthened my ability to listen deeply, appreciate complexity, and understand each person within the context of their relationships, history, and lived experience. I have a particular appreciation for highly creative individuals and for the many ways people experience, express, and make sense of the world.

Whether you are seeking answers for yourself or a loved one, I hope to offer an assessment experience that is compassionate, meaningful, and centered on helping you better understand yourself.

Education & Licensure
Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies; Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology from University of Redlands.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I've always been drawn to work that centers on understanding people rather than simply categorizing them. Throughout my career, I've found that some of the most meaningful moments occur when someone feels truly seen—sometimes for the first time. I believe that being deeply understood is, in itself, healing.

Working with neurodivergent individuals feels like a natural extension of this philosophy. I value the diversity of human experience and believe that every person's way of thinking, relating, and moving through the world deserves to be approached with curiosity, respect, and compassion. A neurodivergent evaluation is about more than determining whether someone meets diagnostic criteria; it can be an opportunity for greater self-understanding, validation, and a new way of making sense of one's life.

My hope is that each person leaves the assessment process feeling not only informed, but genuinely understood.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I approach every evaluation with the belief that understanding is the key to forward movement. Rather than viewing neurodivergence through the lens of deficits, I strive to appreciate each person's unique way of thinking, learning, relating, and experiencing the world. My goal is to create an environment where clients feel safe enough to share their experiences openly, knowing they will be met with curiosity, respect, and compassion.

I also believe that each individual brings strengths that deserve recognition alongside the challenges that may have prompted an evaluation. By taking time to understand the whole person—their history, relationships, interests, and lived experiences—I hope to provide feedback that is both clinically meaningful and personally validating. My goal is for clients to leave with a clearer understanding of themselves, greater confidence in their strengths, and practical insights that support their continued growth.
