About

Hello and welcome! I’m Danica Watson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor based in the Fort Worth, Texas area and licensed in Texas. My background includes outpatient therapy, psychiatric care, crisis services, and behavioral health case management.

‍

I believe therapy works best when you feel understood, respected, and comfortable being yourself. You may have spent years feeling like you have to work harder than everyone else just to keep up, stay organized, manage relationships, or make sense of what you are feeling. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you do not have to explain or defend the way you experience the world. I want therapy to help you better understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful change in your everyday life.

Education & Licensure
Doctor of Social Work (DSW) student, The University of Texas at Arlington; Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW), The University of Texas at Arlington; Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, Amridge University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have a special interest in working with neurodivergent adults, particularly women who are newly diagnosed with ADHD, autism, or other forms of neurodivergence, as well as those who are beginning to recognize these patterns in themselves for the first time.

‍

Many women spend years masking, overcompensating, caring for others, and wondering why everyday responsibilities seem to require so much effort. Receiving a diagnosis or finally understanding your neurodivergence can bring tremendous relief, but it can also bring grief, anger, confusion, and questions about how life might have been different if you had understood yourself sooner.

‍

I am passionate about helping you make sense of those experiences without viewing neurodivergence as something that needs to be “fixed.” Together, we can build greater self-understanding, reduce self-blame, recognize the strengths you already possess, and develop strategies that work with your brain rather than against it.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is affirming, collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. I want to understand not only what feels difficult for you, but also what you already do well, what has helped you succeed, and what makes you uniquely you.

‍

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT-informed strategies, and trauma-informed care while adapting those approaches to your individual needs and communication style. Rather than asking you to fit yourself into a predetermined version of what you “should” be, we will work together to identify strategies that are realistic and sustainable for your life.

‍

I believe therapy should involve more than talking about problems. We can examine patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, build on solutions that are already working, and develop practical tools you can use outside of therapy. My goal is for you to leave therapy with greater self-understanding, confidence in your strengths, and strategies that help everyday life feel more manageable.
