About

Congratulations! Yes you, on taking the necessary steps to better you and your life. I am Dana Valencia Robinson, License Clinical Mental Health Clinician(LCMHC). I prefer to identified by my middle name "Valencia", I am therapist in the state of North Carolina with over 15 plus years in the mental health field. With an autistic child of my own I have a special place in my heart for this population. With professional and personal experinmces with the autism population being misdiagnosed or under diagnosed in various settings, I have prided myself on making sure I put in the extra effort to make sure each client I work with gets that best care and resources needed to aide in the recovery and stabilization process.

Education & Licensure
My educational pursues are consistent with doctorate level education in Psychology Trauma and Natural Disaster Relief (Nothcentral University), Master in Mental Health Counseling (Walden University), Bachelor Degree in Sociology (Saint Augustine's University)
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I am especially interested in working with the autism community as a result of my own personal experiences in various settings often neglecting the population due to be ill-informed and unaware and/or ill-prepared. My goal is to help you help yourself through

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I often meet each client where they are, which mean I have an uncannon ability to identify strengths and weaknesses without holding them as an actual deficit, rather a tool to grow.  As a student of life, I believe we are all always growing and learning perpetuating the cycle of student/teacher framework. This means, while some symptomology may cause more difficulties than others, once new ways to cope and manage are developed you graduate to other ways to exist.
