About

Congratulations!! Yes you, you have initiated something so profound that others fail or struggle to do. I am Dana Robinson, LCMHC. I prefer to go by Valenica, and I am so eager to start working with you. I am currently licensed in the state of North Carolina. I have a variety of experience working with mild to more acute diagnosis, autistic and substance abuse population. I am a proud mother of an Autistic child and take my position as your clinician very seriously. I can't wait to help unravel life, identify patterns, relearn and make well needed changes in your life. My goal is to ultimately help you help yourself, be the best you, that you can possibly be.

Education & Licensure
My educational pursues are consistent with doctorate level education in Psychology Trauma and Natural Disaster Relief (Nothcentral University), Master in Mental Health Counseling (Walden University), Bachelor Degree in Sociology (Saint Augustine's University)
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

As a mother of a Autistic child, I have firsthand experience with the population from a personal level. As a mental health provider, I have an uncannon ability to identify and want to help Autistic adults get the help they need. With a background in almost every setting you can think of (home, school, hospital, community, church) I have experienced the Autistic population go unnoticed and/or be misdiagnosis when Autism should be the leading diagnosis. My philosophy is simply, I sow good seeds to help the population of professionals that help me with my autistic child by helping the population that may have not got the help they needed earlier on in life and helps to grow good seeds for the same thing to continue in and with others.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I provided myself professionally on meeting my client base where they are and allow them to normalize the good, bad and ugly parts of what they are currently experiencing. I attempt to allow them to take the lead by redirecting, implementing modeling age appropriate, cognitive appropriate strength and weakness that foster the base outcome.
