About

Hello! I am glad to have this opportunity to get to know you. My name is Cynthia and I am currently licensed as a psychologist in Missouri and also with PSYPACT. I have been in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. I have specialities in the areas of autism evaluation across the life span and PTSD/traumatic stress response. In my work and my life, I seek to respect the unique qualities of each person and to learn their experiences and understanding of themselves, others, and the world in which they live.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Counseling Psychology from University of Kansas; Masters in Counseling Psychology from University of Missouri-Kansas City; BA in Music and Minor in Psychology from University of Central Missouri.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation to learn more and to work with autistic adults comes from personal and professional experiences. Across my lifespan, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have multiple neurodivergent friends and family members. I began working with autistic adolescents in my first job after college and that time solidified my intention to pursue graduate education psychology. Each person brings with them unique experiences and understanding of the world. In my work, I have had the opportunity to metaphorically walk with my clients as they help me understand the complexities that shape how they use their personal strengths, to navigate challenge, and to form their understanding and perspectives of themselves and the dynamic world around them. As a psychologist, I seek to help clients enhance their strengths, better understand and navigate their challenges, and to access skills and resources to use in their daily lives and personal interactions.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

It is of utmost importance to me to provide an affirming and strengths-based approach in my interactions with others. As a psychologist, this is crucial to provide a safe space for clients to share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, strengths and challenges.. A safe space is a space where a person is seen and valued as their authentic self. I seek to remain humble in my understanding of others, and through humility I remain open to learning the multitude of unique aspects of each individual's identity and perspectives.
