About
Hi, I’m Dr. Cole Hague, and I’m glad you’re here. I’m a neuropsychologist based in Alexandria, Virginia, and licensed in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, and Massachusetts. I’ve trained and worked at major academic medical centers, where my career has centered on neurodevelopmental assessment. What drives me is helping people make sense of experiences that may have been hard to explain, to themselves or anyone else. Outside of work, I’m a Muay Thai fanatic, an enthusiastic home cook, and an avid reader, and most evenings you’ll find me with my wife and our dogs.
Some of my earliest clinical training was at a center for autism and developmental challenges, and autism evaluations have been part of my work ever since. Over the years I’ve seen how often autistic people, especially those who learned to mask, get labeled anxious, quirky, or “too sensitive” instead of being understood. I’ve also seen what changes when someone finally has accurate language for how their mind works: less self-blame, more self-compassion, and a clearer sense of what they need. Being part of that moment is what draws me to this work.
I approach every evaluation from a developmental lens, looking at the whole arc of your life: how you grew up, what you’ve learned to work around, and what comes easily to you now, not just what feels hard. Autism is a different way of thinking and experiencing the world, and my job is to understand yours, not to fit you into a checklist. You don’t need to show up with everything figured out. I’ll guide the conversation, explain my thinking in plain language, and make sure you leave understanding why I reached my conclusions, with next steps built around your strengths and your goals.
