Hello, and welcome! My name is Dr. Christine Kimmel, and I'm a clinical psychologist based in San Diego and licensed in California. I specialize in providing comprehensive client-centered autism assessments for individuals of all ages, which include consideration of co-morbid conditions such as ADHD and PTSD in determining differential diagnosis. I am deeply passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals more fully understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, and embrace their own unique strengths.
Some of the kindest, smartest, most creative adults I know suspect that they may be autistic, but they have been unable to be evaluated and diagnosed as such and therefore have been unable to get the support they need to help them cope with social-emotional challenges. Having spent the five years prior to joining Prosper Health doing autism assessments for children and adolescents with diverse backgrounds, I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to now use my assessment skills to help autistic/neurodivergent adults along the path of self-discovery and fulfillment.
Neurodivergence is the reason why throughout history there have been great inventions, human rights and animal rights protections, and increased environmental conservation efforts. In truth, being different from the norm is in itself a strength... but that doesn't mean it's easy. My clinical approach is rooted in compassion for the challenges neurodivergent individuals face in a world designed for neurotypicals, while focusing on validating each individual's unique experience and perspective as well as empowering them to authentically express themselves without fear of judgment.
