About
Welcome to my page! I’m Dr. Christian Carey, a licensed psychologist in Illinois, and I’m deeply passionate about assessment work because it creates a meaningful opportunity to better understand ourselves and identify thoughtful paths toward well-being. I strive to build a collaborative and welcoming assessment space where your lived experiences are valued alongside my professional perspective, allowing us to develop greater clarity and insight together. My style is conversational and engaging—I genuinely enjoy getting to know my clients’ interests, passions, and values. With a blend of curiosity, warmth, and a bit of humor, I aim to understand each person’s unique story and help make the assessment process both comfortable and empowering.
I chose to specialize in working with neurodivergent clients because I feel a deep commitment to advocacy and to helping create a world that is more understanding, flexible, and genuinely inclusive. I believe that every individual brings unique strengths, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. In our work together, my goal is to support you in identifying and moving toward social, educational, and professional environments that truly honor and value who you are. Assessment can be a powerful part of that process—it offers an opportunity to better understand your strengths, skills, and needs so you can advocate for yourself and find spaces where you feel seen, respected, and empowered.
I bring an affirming and strength-based approach to my work by centering each client’s unique experiences, values, and perspectives as essential to the process. I approach assessment as a collaborative space where we explore not only areas of challenge, but—just as importantly—your strengths, skills, and the ways you already navigate the world effectively. I view neurodivergence and individual differences as meaningful variations, not deficits, and I aim to reflect that in how I listen, ask questions, and share feedback. Together, we build a clearer understanding of what supports your well-being, while highlighting the qualities that make you who you are. My goal is for you to leave the process feeling seen, respected, and better equipped to advocate for yourself in environments that recognize and value your strengths.
