Hello and welcome! My name is Christa Zimmermann and I am an LCSW currently living and practicing in New Jersey. I enjoy actively listening to individuals tell their unique stories and helping them to uncover their strengths as we pursue realizing their goals together. I am flexible in approach and regularly utilize humor, compassion, directness, and creating a safe space for expression in my practice. I hope that we can find a path together that works for you.
My motivation for working with autistic/neurodivergent adults stems from a deep respect for and interest in neurodiversity since I was a child. As a neurodivergent woman myself, with various friends and family also identifying as neurodivergent, I have come to appreciate and understand the complexities, challenges, and rewards that come along with this identity. With the more recent discoveries of late diagnosis, especially in women, I am passionate about helping other women unpack their childhoods, where they are today, and what they would like their futures to look like. I aim to help you explore whatever path you are on in your journey as well, and hope we can continue to learn from each other.
I always aim to foster an environment that focuses on your strengths and utilizes active listening and validation of your unique feelings and challenges in order to empower you to take on your goals head on. I hope to help you feel at ease enough during our time together to tap into whatever emotions may come up, and even laugh at ourselves sometimes. I aim to make space for humor as a tool when appropriate and don't subscribe to any specific treatment modality, but am flexible to your unique needs.
