About
Hello and welcome! I'm so glad you're here. My name is Chellie Shaffer, PsyD. I'm currently a licensed school psychologist and clinical psychologist in California. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, curiosity, and respect. As a clinician, I believe in creating a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly heard and understood. My approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when people feel heard, understood, and supported. In our work together, I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore difficult emotions, gain insight, and develop practical tools for moving forward.
My motivation for working with autistic adults stems from a deep respect for neurodiversity and a passion for fostering a space where every individual feels valued and empowered. I value the unique perspectives, strengths, and ways of experiencing the world that neurodivergent people bring. My goal is to provide a space where clients feel understood rather than judged, and supported rather than pathologized. Together, we work to build strategies that honor each person's individual needs, strengths, and goals while navigating the challenges that can arise in environments not always designed with neurodiversity in mind.
I bring an affirming, strengths-based approach to therapy that recognizes each person's inherent resilience, capabilities, and unique ways of engaging with the world. Rather than focusing solely on challenges or deficits, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and build upon their existing strengths, values, interests, and supports.I am grounded in the belief that meaningful growth occurs when people feel understood, respected, and empowered. I strive to create an environment that honors clients' identities and lived experiences while supporting them in developing practical strategies to navigate difficulties and achieve their goals. For neurodivergent clients, this means embracing and supporting individual differences, fostering self-understanding and self-advocacy, and helping clients leverage their strengths while addressing barriers that may exist within their environments rather than within themselves.
