About

I am a neuropsychologist specializing in assessment and neuropsychologically-based intervention, with thirty years of experience working with autistic adults and children, as well as individuals diagnosed with ADHD and related learning differences. Formerly on staff at UC San Francisco Medical Center, I am currently in private practice in Carmel, California. I understand that pursuing an assessment as an adult — particularly for something that may have shaped your entire experience of yourself in the world — is a significant decision. I take that seriously, and I bring both clinical rigor and genuine care to every assessment I conduct.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have always genuinely enjoyed working with autistic adults and children — and found them fascinating to work with. What has kept me here for thirty years is how often I have encountered people with remarkable potential that was in real danger of going unrealized. Not because the ability wasn't there, but because the right conditions for expressing it hadn't been found.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My primary focus is on identifying what overwhelms — attentionally, executively, socially — and helping clients understand it, develop ways of working with it, and find approaches to learning and growth that fit how they are actually wired. What I have found, again and again, is that when overwhelm is reduced and learning happens in increments and stages that make sense to the individual, growth that wasn't predicted becomes possible. An assessment with me will include concrete guidance in these directions.
