About

Hello and welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Dr. Chad Houchin, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Colorado Springs. I have approximately 10 years of experience in comprehensive psychological testing and assessment, and I work providing these evaluations to those seeking diagnoses, and to recommend resources and next steps. I look forward to getting to know you so I can help guide you toward a more vibrant and authentic life. Often individuals with undiagnosed neurodiverse conditions have been misunderstood or in their lives. Many adults come to this process after years of adapting, masking, or feeling different without having the language to explain why. I’m passionate about helping people better understand themselves, and feel seen and acknowledged in a way that honors your experiences and strengths, and also discover your creativeness and personal styles of resilience. I offer a supportive, validating space where you can explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and thereby gain clarity and make sense of your story. My approach is collaborative and analytic, but also empathetic. I will move through this process with you with curiosity, compassion, and respect, and a commitment to honoring your lived experience. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood and empowered to move forward with clarity, self-acceptance, and self-trust.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have chosen to work with neurodivergent adults because I believe everyone deserves the chance to understand themselves, feel valued, have their experiences taken seriously, and to flourish in their lives. Many people come to this process after years of adapting, masking, or feeling different without a clear language for why. It is meaningful to me to offer a space where those experiences are honored and also explored with care. I will approach this work with curiosity, respect, and collaboration, and try to guide you to where you can find help, and build clarity, confidence, and a sense of self that feels authentic and empowering.I have always felt that the world is more vibrant and beautiful when people can live and express themselves authentically. I believe that the process of testing, and then identifying next steps, can move people forward and upward on their journey towards better understanding and finding a meaningful place for themselves. When that happens, and the right supports are found, we are able to open a door for clients to embrace and share their authentic self with the world.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

In my work with neurodivergent adults, I focus on understanding who you are. I provide a safe place for clients to feel they can be authentic and vulnerable while we go through the assessment process. I encourage clients to unmask to whatever degree feels best for them, to not make eye contact if they aren’t comfortable with it, and to be honest about their struggles. I’ve found that this leads to excellent conversations. This process allows me to better identify communities, groups, resources, and ideas that I think would be most helpful for each individual client.
