About
Hello and welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Dr. Chad Houchin, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Colorado Springs. I have approximately 11 years of experience in comprehensive psychological testing and assessment, and I work providing these evaluations to those seeking diagnoses, and to recommend resources and next steps. I also hold an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT), allowing me to provide care via teletherapy in 42 PSYPACT-participating states. I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of multidisciplinary settings; private practice, universities, behavioral health centers, on a military base, and at a Veterans Center. I look forward to getting to know you so I can help guide you toward a more vibrant and authentic life.
I have chosen to work with neurodivergent adults because I believe everyone deserves the chance to understand themselves, feel valued, express themselves authentically, have their experiences taken seriously, and to flourish in their lives. I believe that the process of testing, and then identifying next steps, can move you forward and upward on your journey towards finding a deeply meaningful place for yourself. Often individuals with undiagnosed neurodiverse conditions have been misunderstood, overlooked, or marginalized in their lives. Many adults come to this process after years of adapting, masking, or feeling different without quite understanding or being able to explain why. I’m passionate about helping you better understand yourself, to feel seen and acknowledged in a way that honors your experiences and strengths, and also to help you discover your creativeness and personal style of resilience. I offer a supportive, validating space where we can explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and thereby gain clarity and make sense of your story. My approach to evaluation and assessment is collaborative and analytic, but also empathetic. I will move through this process with you with curiosity, compassion, respect, and a commitment to honoring your lived experience. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood and empowered to move forward with clarity, self-acceptance, and self-trust.
In my work with neurodivergent adults, I focus on understanding who you are. I treasure being a safe place for you to feel you can be authentic and vulnerable while we go through the assessment process. I tailor evidence-based assessments to meet each person’s unique needs. I encourage clients to unmask to whatever degree feels best for them, and to be honest about their struggles. This process allows me to better identify what your unique assets and strengths are, and to help guide you to find communities, groups, resources, and ideas that I think would be most helpful.
