Carla Fortney
About
Hi, my name is Carla Fortney. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and I’m licensed to practice in Ohio. I have nearly a decade of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, adults, children, and families through emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. I provide a compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming approach that focuses on helping you better understand yourself, reduce overwhelm, build emotional regulation skills, and navigate life in a way that feels authentic and sustainable for you.
My motivation for working with neurodivergent adults stems from a deep respect and enjoyment of working with individually minded, amazing individuals. It is my goal to help neurodivergent adults meet their goals in a way that is comfortable for them while supporting autonomy and independence. I am motivated and excited, too help amazingly unique people feel comfortable in their own skin and to do so at their own pace.
I work every day to create an individualized, affirming, strength based approach that will ensure each person feels seen, heard, autonomous, and that they are enough based on their own unique and authentic perspective. I actively listen, validate, and provide a safe space to support each client to accomplish their goals by validating their feelings and experiences, helping them to realize and harness their existing strengths and create the changes in their lives they would like to see.
