About

Hello and welcome. My name is Candas Ziemba, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan with over 26 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan. My work is driven by a deep commitment to helping people feel understood, empowered, and capable of meaningful change. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who are neurodivergent and navigating complex emotional and life challenges.I bring a compassionate, strengths-based perspective to my work, integrating approaches such as DBT, EMDR, behavioral activation, and nutrition-informed interventions to support the whole person. What motivates me most as a provider is the opportunity to help individuals recognize their inherent strengths, build resilience, and create lives that feel purposeful, balanced, and authentic.

Education & Licensure
Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Michigan University; Master of Science in Nutrition from Liberty University.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals developed early in my career while providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to students with autism and co-occurring cognitive and emotional challenges. During that time, I gained a deep appreciation for the unique ways neurodivergent individuals experience and interact with the world. I also recognized the importance of providing support that goes beyond behavior-focused interventions to include emotional understanding, identity development, and overall well-being.As I continued my work, I saw a clear gap in services for autistic adults, particularly in access to supportive, strengths-based mental health care. This realization strengthened my commitment to specializing in this area. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic space where neurodivergent individuals feel respected, understood, and empowered to build on their strengths while navigating life’s challenges in a way that aligns with their values and goals.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that every individual already possesses strengths, abilities, and qualities that can serve as a foundation for growth and healing. Rather than focusing solely on problems or deficits, I work collaboratively with clients to recognize and build upon what is already working in their lives. This strengths-based perspective allows individuals to develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves.I strive to create a compassionate and supportive environment where clients feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported. Through this process, we explore personal strengths, values, and goals, using them as a guide for meaningful change. My role is to walk alongside each person as they gain insight, develop new skills, and move toward a life that feels purposeful and authentic. I am deeply committed to helping clients realize their full potential by empowering them to harness their strengths and navigate challenges with clarity and confidence.
