About
Hello! My name is Bryan, I'm born and raised in Los Angeles and am licensed in California. I am passionate about helping individuals identify their goals, find their strengths, and grow their coping skills and emotional intelligence. I am an Emotional Intelligence nerd, and I use it to help clients learn more about themselves, and use that information to help them navigate interpersonal relationships at work and in their personal lives. My motto is - "you don't have to be sick, to get better". I have significant experience in supporting folks on the Autism Spectrum with social-emotional coping skills. My specific areas of interest are Anxiety, OCD, Anger Management, and Social Skills.Every client is different - I believe in applying a flexible approach that fits the needs of the person I am working with.
My motivation to work with this community comes from a very early age. My older brother was diagnosed with severe learning/motor disabilities when I was young, and I grew up seeing his strength and abilities more than his "disabilities". This inspired me to help others, especially those who may often feel overlooked or misunderstood. My very first job was working with young children at an autism clinic, which quickly led to me publishing research, and even writing my own social skills and anger management curriculum. My experience working with the Autism community set me up for everything else in my career, and my gratitude to the kids and families I have worked with is with me at all times.
I prioritize a strengths-based and relational approach in working with clients. I want to know each client as a person, not as a symptom or a challenge. I want to know what my clients care about, like to do, and find joy in. I prioritize learning about client's interests as a primary way of connecting and building a relationship. Every client is the expert on their own experience -- I see myself as a guide and consultant that works from a client's stated goals. In sum - be yourself and I will be myself! We will talk in practical terms and avoid clinical jargon, though I can teach you plenty if that is your wish!
