About

Hello! I'm Dr. Brittani Berbette, and I live in Maine, where I am licensed as a clinical psychologist. I currently specialize in clinical assessment, but I have also spent time working at university counseling centers in the past. Through these experiences, I have discovered a passion for supporting individuals as they discover who they are and helping them work toward building confidence in themselves by embracing their unique qualities and abilities. When individuals are often coming to me feeling like they don't quite know who they are or where they belong, there is nothing more exciting to me than watching them grow into their identity and embrace themselves fully, "flaws" and all. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental, safe, and compassionate environment where you feel like you can work to uncover your strengths that will help you work through life's challenges.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Clinical Psychology from Saint Louis University; Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Auburn University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Throughout my years working in clinical assessment, as well as at a university counseling center, I've come to realize that I enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals. I have a deep appreciation for those who are working to embrace who they are as a person, and I feel honored to help you along that path of self-discovery. I hold a lot of compassion for the feelings of confusion that can come with not having all of the answers about yourself, and I strive to help you resolve those questions and feel confident in who you are. My goal is to help you identify your strengths and build on them to work toward feeling fulfilled, understood, and supported.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe in approaching assessment through a non-judgmental lense, meaning that I am not going to judge you for anything that you say, and I hope to create a warm and welcoming space where you can feel safe sharing about yourself in an open and honest way. We are all unique, and I believe that we all possess strengths and abilities that can be used to help us achieve our goals and reach our full potential. I am an active listener, and I use validation and gentle support to help you realize your strengths and authentic self.
