About

Hello, and welcome. I'm Dr. Brian Ragsdale, a licensed clinical psychologist in New Hampshire with decades of experience in mental health, psychological assessment, healthcare, and higher education. I strive to create a thoughtful, respectful, and collaborative environment where you feel heard, understood, and met with compassion and curiosity throughout the assessment process.I've had the privilege of working with adults from a wide range of cultural, racial, ethnic, and life backgrounds. I believe every person's story is unique, and the best assessments consider the whole person, including their strengths, challenges, and goals. My hope is that you'll leave with greater clarity, a deeper understanding of yourself, and confidence about what comes next.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island; MA in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island; BS from Morgan State University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Throughout my career, I've been drawn to helping people better understand themselves rather than simply focusing on diagnoses. Working with autistic and neurodivergent adults allows me to combine my interest in psychological assessment with my commitment to seeing each person as an individual. I value listening to people's lived experiences, recognizing their strengths, and providing thoughtful evaluations that can offer greater clarity, validation, and direction. It's rewarding to be part of a process that helps people make sense of experiences they may have been trying to understand for many years.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe every person brings a unique set of strengths, perspectives, and life experiences to the assessment process. My role is not to define someone by a diagnosis but to understand the whole person and recognize the abilities, resilience, and ways of thinking that have helped them navigate the world. I strive to create an affirming, culturally responsive environment where clients feel respected, listened to, and understood. My hope is that each person leaves with greater self-understanding, confidence in their strengths, and a clearer sense of how to build on them in their everyday lives. As a Black gay psychologist, I appreciate how culture, identity, and lived experience shape the ways people understand themselves and move through the world. I am committed to providing care that honors each person's individuality with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
