About
Welcome, and thank you for being here today. I appreciate you taking this important step, and I hope our time together feels comfortable, supportive, and informative. I know that deciding to pursue an autism evaluation can bring a mix of emotions. You may feel hopeful, uncertain, relieved, or even wonder why it took so long to get here. Wherever you are in your journey, I want you to know that you'll be met with kindness, respect, and genuine curiosity, not judgment. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist based in the Chicago area with more than 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in hospitals, private practice, and public service. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations while helping people better understand themselves through compassionate, individualized care. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of listening to thousands of people's stories, and no two have ever been the same. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we'll explore your experiences with openness and compassion so you can leave with greater clarity, deeper self-understanding, and confidence in who you are.
Throughout my career, I've learned that many people, especially autistic and neurodivergent adults, have spent years trying to adapt to expectations that never quite fit. They may have wondered why certain things seemed harder for them than they did for everyone else, learned to camouflage parts of themselves, or questioned whether they simply needed to try harder. Too often, they've been misunderstood, overlooked, or made to feel that they were "too much" or "not enough." I've always been fascinated by the many different ways people think, learn, communicate, and experience the world. Rather than asking, "What's wrong?" I find myself asking, "What has your experience been like?" and "What strengths have helped you get this far?" Those questions have guided me throughout my career and continue to shape the way I approach every evaluation. I chose to work with autistic and neurodivergent adults because I believe that understanding yourself can be life changing. An evaluation isn't about placing a label on who you are, it's about providing insight, validation, and language that may finally help your experiences make sense. One of the greatest privileges of my work is seeing someone replace years of self-doubt with self-understanding, self-acceptance, and the confidence to embrace who they have always been.
When we meet, I want you to feel like you're talking with someone who is genuinely interested in getting to know you, not just your challenges, but your strengths, your interests, your relationships, your accomplishments, and the experiences that have shaped who you are. My approach is collaborative, affirming, and strength based. I believe neurodiversity is a natural part of human variation, and I strive to create an environment where you can be yourself without feeling the need to mask or meet someone else's expectations. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to understand how your unique mind works rather than expecting you to fit someone else's definition of "normal." Whether your evaluation confirms autism or leads us in another direction, my hope is that you leave with a clearer understanding of yourself and a renewed appreciation for your strengths. I want you to walk away feeling seen, understood, and empowered, not because you've changed who you are, but because you better understand and embrace the person you've always been. My goal isn't simply to determine whether you meet criteria for a diagnosis. It's to understand you as a whole person.
