About
I'm a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with more than 30 years of experience working with adults. I maintain a private practice in New York City and serve on the faculty of the William Alanson White Institute, where I teach and supervise therapists in training.
At Prosper Health, I conduct comprehensive autism evaluations for adults. I know that seeking an evaluation can be an important step, particularly if you've spent years wondering whether autism might help explain some of your experiences. My goal is to make the process comfortable, thoughtful, and genuinely useful to you.
Earlier in my career, I co-founded and directed a specialized inpatient unit at Zucker Hillside Hospital, part of Northwell Health, for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, who were also experiencing psychiatric difficulties.
That experience gave me an appreciation for the importance of understanding each person as an individual rather than simply through a diagnosis. It also taught me how easily someone's abilities and needs can be misunderstood when we make assumptions about how they think, communicate, or relate to others.
My work in this field was recognized with a National Leadership Award from the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD), on whose Board of Directors I served for six years. I'm pleased to return to working with autistic adults through Prosper Health, bringing both that earlier experience and the perspective I've gained through many years of clinical practice.
I believe a good evaluation should help you understand not only the challenges you've experienced, but also your strengths and the ways you've learned to navigate the world.
I approach each person with curiosity, respect, and an open mind. I'll listen carefully to your experiences, take your questions seriously, and work to understand how you see yourself and your relationships. I don't assume that everyone who comes for an autism evaluation will receive an autism diagnosis, and I believe the process should be valuable regardless of the outcome.
My goal is to help you leave the evaluation with a clearer understanding of yourself and some useful ideas about what might come next.
