About
Hello and Welcome! Often deciding to have an assessment can feel like a big step, especially if an individual has been struggling with a diagnosis or not getting the treatment they might have might have benefitted from. My name is Beth Caton, I am a licensed psychologist in New York State, and I am passionate about helping individuals find their unique gifts. I specialize in neurodiversity. My style is direct, clear, and warm and I believe that knowledge is power. The more you know about yourself, the better you can be and the more you can achieve. My goal is to create a safe space based on honesty and trust. I believe that every individual has unique gifts and a unique journey. As a clinician it is my honor to create a safe space where you will gain knowledge and insight into your gifts and further your journey.
My commitment for working with autistic and neurodivergent adult stems from a deep respect for neurodiversity and a difference in all people, an issue which I feel has long been overlooked. I have a passion for inclusivity where every individual can feel heard and accepted. I am moved and inspired by the wisdom, compassion strengths and resilience of the autistic community, and I will personally will strive to empower and provide any support that honors each person's journey and unique experiences. My personal goal is to help a person learn about themselves, understand and navigate challenges, build on inner strengths - thrive on differences and enhance skills that enrich daily lives and relationships. When working together, we can build a life where you feel understood, supported and able to achieve and thrive.
I approach every evaluation knowing that every person possesses wonderful and unique strengths. For instance, someone may have exceptional compassion, empathy and attention to detail, may excel in their profession, and may struggle with navigating certain emotional and social situations. I actively listen to their experiences and validate their feelings, creating a safe space where they can express themselves authentically. I help them to see their unique strengths and abilities, and help them to harness these to navigate challenges and achieve personal goals to achieve their best potential in a safe and non-judgmental way.
