About
Hi, I’m Ayesha Boger, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama, based in the Dothan area. I’ve worked with children, teens, adults, and families, including young people navigating tough situations at home, at school, or with their peers. I know it can feel hard to open up to someone new, so I try to make counseling feel like a real conversation—one where you can be honest, feel respected, and figure out your next steps without being judged. I became a counselor because I believe people deserve support while they’re finding their way, not just after they’ve figured everything out.
Working with children and families made me notice how quickly a child can be called “difficult” when the adults around them haven’t yet figured out what they need. That stayed with me. I want autistic and neurodivergent clients to have someone who takes the time to understand how they communicate, what overwhelms them, and what helps them feel safe and capable. I also want families to leave with a better understanding of their child and practical ways to support them at home and school. To me, the work starts with curiosity and respect—not trying to make someone act less like themselves.
I start by learning what matters to the person—their interests, what they’re proud of, what helps them feel comfortable, and what they want to work toward. We use those strengths as a starting point and make room for their way of communicating and experiencing the world. I listen to the client and, when appropriate, work with their family so the support feels useful in everyday life. My hope is that each person leaves feeling more understood and more confident in what they can do.
