About
Hi there! I'm licensed psychologist in Texas, and one of the things I enjoy most about this work is getting to learn how people experience and make sense of the world. I'm genuinely curious about people's stories. I'm excited to learn what has shaped you, what comes naturally to you, what has been difficult, and what matters most to you. I see greater self-understanding as an important pathway toward building a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and fulfilling.
My interest in autism began during graduate school and has remained an important part of my professional work ever since. Much of my early research focused on autism in Black children, including questions about misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, and the role that family and cultural context can play in how autism is recognized and understood.
That work reinforced something that continues to shape how I approach assessment today: none of us can be understood outside of the context of our lives. Family, culture, spirituality/religion, education, healthcare experiences, language, relationships, and community all influence how we understand ourselves and how comfortable we feel showing different parts of ourselves to others.
I'm especially drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent adults because many people reach adulthood having spent years trying to understand experiences or patterns that never quite had a name. I value the opportunity to help you make sense of those experiences with clarity, compassion, and context.
I approach evaluations with curiosity and with the goal of creating a space where you feel comfortable and respected enough to be yourself. You are the expert on your own life and experiences. I bring the expertise in development, behavior, emotions, and psychological patterns. The most useful evaluation happens when we bring those two perspectives together.
I also recognize that people often seek an evaluation after years of challenging, confusing, or frustrating experiences. While those difficulties deserve attention, I don't want them to become the entire story. I listen for your strengths, the ways you have adapted, the environments in which you thrive, and the individual patterns that make you who you are.
Ultimately, my goal is for the evaluation to help answer the questions that brought you here in the first place. Ideally, you leave with a clearer understanding of yourself and information you can use to make choices, seek support, advocate for your needs, and continue building a life that feels right for you.
