About

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Arial Swallow, a licensed psychologist in Texas. My approach to assessment is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe meaningful assessment goes beyond identifying a diagnosis by considering you as a whole person and the unique strengths, experiences, and circumstances that have shaped you. My background includes psychological assessment, trauma-informed care, and working with individuals from diverse and underserved communities. Throughout the assessment process, I strive to create a supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable sharing your experiences. My goal is to provide meaningful answers and help you develop greater clarity, self-understanding, and appreciation for the strengths you already carry with you.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology and Disaster Mental Health from the University of South Dakota; MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota; Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of South Dakota.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I’ve always enjoyed helping you better understand yourself and make sense of your experiences. What draws me to working with neurodivergent adults is knowing that you may have spent years experiencing the world differently without fully understanding why, having access to services that could provide answers, or feeling fully understood within traditional systems of care. I really value being able to make assessment more accessible and help you put those pieces together, while recognizing not only the challenges you’ve experienced but also the strengths you’ve developed along the way. Being part of that process and helping you leave with greater clarity, understanding, and appreciation for who you are is what makes this work meaningful to me.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe there is value in understanding the strengths that have helped you adapt, grow, and navigate your experiences. I want to help you identify the abilities, perspectives, and qualities you already bring with you and understand how they can support you moving forward. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself and know that you are being understood and valued as a whole person. My goal is to respect what makes you unique while helping you recognize, appreciate, and build upon the strengths you already have so you can continue growing in ways that are meaningful to you.
