About

Hello and welcome! I’m April Moo, a therapist based in the Twin Cities and licensed in Minnesota. I’m passionate about creating a safe, welcoming space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted for who you are. I value each person’s unique experiences and believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to your individual needs, strengths, and goals. I enjoy using creativity, play therapy, arts and crafts, and other hands-on approaches to support self-expression and coping. My goal is to meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and walk alongside you through life’s challenges. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone. I’m here to support you.

Education & Licensure
Master of Social Work from University of Saint Thomas, Minnesota; Bachelor in Social Work from Bethel University, Minnesota.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I was drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent adults because I have people in my life who are neurodivergent, and I’ve always enjoyed learning from their unique perspectives and ways of experiencing the world. I believe you should not have to change who you are or mask your authentic self to fit into society. My goal is to create a space where you feel accepted for who you are while supporting you in building the skills you want to develop, navigating challenges, and working toward a life where you can thrive and succeed in a way that feels meaningful to you.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

As a person of color who grew up in a refugee camp, I understand the challenges that can come with adapting to a new culture, navigating differences, and trying to find a sense of belonging. These experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy with empathy, openness, and curiosity. I believe each person is uniquely made and has inner strengths and resources that can help them navigate life’s challenges. I take a strength-based approach by recognizing and honoring your lived experiences, resilience, and the strengths you already carry. My goal is to help you build on those strengths while supporting you in developing greater self-love, self-esteem, and self-confidence. I also want to remind you to be gentle and compassionate with yourself as you grow and navigate your journey.
