About
Hello! I'm so happy we found each other. My name is April Garcia and I am a licensed therapist in Illinois. I enjoy working with individuals who have ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent experiences. I believe that neurodivergent brains are incredible—creative, insightful, and often uniquely equipped to see and engage with the world in meaningful ways. At the same time, I recognize that these differences can come with real challenges, especially in environments that aren’t designed to support them. My goal is to help you build practical skills, navigate those challenges, and identify and strengthen the qualities that make you who you are.I am committed to creating a space where all individuals feel welcome and affirmed. I proudly support people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, family structures, races, and ethnicities. Wherever you are in your journey, I’m here to meet you with curiosity and care.
My work with autistic adults is rooted in a genuine respect for neurodiversity and a commitment to creating a space where people feel seen, mirrored back, and empowered. I deeply value the perspectives, strengths, and rarities within the autistic community, and I aim to provide support that reflects and honors each person’s individual experience. My hope is to collaborate with you in a way that feels affirming and useful, helping you move toward a life where you feel understood, supported, and able to thrive on your own terms.
Listening closely to your experiences is central to how I work. I aim to create a space where your thoughts and feelings are taken seriously and where you can show up as your full, authentic self. I also recognize that undiagnosed neurodivergence can be a significant and often overlooked source of stress. That experience deserves attention, validation, and space of its own, and we can take the time to explore it at a pace that feels right for you.
