Angelo Boccia Cedeño
About
Thank you for visiting my page and for your interest. I’m Dr. Angelo Boccia Cedeño and I’m a clinical psychologist living in New York City and licensed throughout New York State. Throughout my time working in medical centers, hospitals, and outpatient clinics it’s been my mission to provide quality care to marginalized and underserved communities in both English and Spanish. My guiding principles in both psychological assessment and psychotherapy have always included transparency, respect for culture and lived experience, and emphasizing strengths. Outside of work I enjoy running, hiking, and trying my hand at new recipes.
Although many misconceptions about autism and neurodivergence still abound, we have seen decades of progress by clients, activists, clinicians, and scientists. I hope to contribute to this important advancement of knowledge by providing thoughtful assessments that go beyond symptom checklists given that autism and neurodivergence show up differently for everyone.
A very wise supervisor once remarked to me that every person is an expert in themselves. This comment resonated and still frames my work today. I believe that every person has a sense of their strengths and skills. This sense, however, can sometimes be difficult to access given environmental invalidation, misunderstanding, and/or misattunement. My goal during each assessment is to explore each person’s unique lived experiences, highlight strengths, and help build upon these strengths.
