About
Hi there - happy you're here! I'm Ang. I'm fortunate enough to be licensed in the place I was born and bred: New York. Change is hard - plain and simple - and I believe it can only happen in a space where you feel comfortable to show up as your authentic self, safe in the knowledge that I will meet you where you are and hold space for your growth. Seeking support is an enormous step towards realizing the life you want, and I commend your first step in your commitment to growth. My goal is to help you better understand who you are and bridge the gap between that person and the person you'd like to be. I do this by helping you recognize strengths and areas where you excel and by identifying areas for consideration and continued growth. I believe in tailoring my approach to best serve the person before me and am committed to working with you to establish a warm, strong, and mutually collaborative alliance.
Perhaps this answer might seem simple, but it is unfortunately true: my desire to work with neurodiverse adults stems from the wealth of information I've come to learn - formally and informally - from my best friend, who has both ADHD and autism. She is easily one of the most capable, kind, and selfless people I know, and I'm better for knowing her. I am incredibly fortunate to have a friend who is so open about her experiences. I've learned so much about the nuances of neurodiversity as well as how important intersectionality is (e.g., being a person of color and neurodivergent or being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and being autistic) in considering how one's lived experience of neurodiversity might differ from another person's. My goal is to better understand who you are and how you came to be that person while recognizing the unique and amazing strengths you possess. At the same time, I will work with you to create a plan that addresses whatever might be getting in the way of living a life that is more rich, meaningful, and value-aligned - whatever that looks like to you.
I believe in an approach that is affirming, culturally sensitive and authentic. I am a Black woman, the daughter of immigrants, and an LGBTQIA+ ally, and all of these identities deeply inform my clinical work. Each client has a story, and I recognize that you are the expert on that story. My role is to help you deconstruct and better understand that story and hone your strengths. As we go through our work together, I hope to grant you an experience where you feel heard, understood, validated, and - above all else - seen for who you are.
