About

Hello, I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Dr. Angelica Coumanova, and I’m a licensed psychologist primarily based in Texas, specializing in autism evaluations for adults.I’m passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, especially those who may have spent years feeling different, misunderstood, or unsure of where they fit. Many of the adults I work with are exploring autism for the first time, often after a lifetime of masking, burnout, or feeling like things have been harder than they “should” be. My goal is to provide a thoughtful, affirming, and thorough evaluation process that helps bring clarity, language, and self-understanding.I approach assessment with both clinical depth and genuine care. This isn’t just about answering a diagnostic question, it’s about understanding your experiences, your strengths, and the patterns that have shaped how you move through the world. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, without pressure to perform or fit a mold.Whether you’re seeking answers, validation, or direction, I’m here to support you in making sense of your story and moving forward with greater confidence and insight.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My decision to specialize in working with autistic and neurodivergent adults is grounded in a commitment to helping people feel accurately understood and genuinely seen. Many of the individuals I work with have spent years feeling out of step with expectations or questioning why things have felt harder or different than they seem for others. I wanted to be part of a process that offers clarity without judgment, and understanding without pressure to change who you are. What matters most to me is creating space for people who have felt unseen or misunderstood to be recognized for who they truly are. That means taking the time to understand your experiences in context, and reflecting them back in a way that feels validating, respectful, and real.I approach this work with a deep respect for neurodiversity and the many ways people think, feel, and move through the world. My goal is not just to answer a diagnostic question, but to support a process that affirms your identity, highlights your strengths, and helps you move forward with greater self-understanding and confidence.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I approach my work from the belief that your experiences make sense in context, and that your strengths are often already present, even if they’ve been overlooked or misunderstood. In assessments, I focus on understanding how you think, process, and navigate the world, and I highlight patterns that reflect both your abilities and your needs.I aim to create a space that feels respectful, collaborative, and affirming, where you can show up as you are without pressure to mask or fit expectations. My goal is for you to leave the process not only with answers, but with a clearer, more compassionate understanding of yourself and how to move forward in a way that aligns with who you are.
