About

Hello and welcome! My name is Angela Kolter and I am a licensed clinical psychologist from Southern California. My clinical background includes working with adults from all walks of life in community mental health, residential substance abuse recovery treatment centers, and in private practice. These days, in addition to my work with Prosper Health in autism assessment, I also work as a psychotherapist in private practice.

Whether in assessment or in psychotherapy, I work with individuals from a collaborative, client-centered approach that emphasizes each client’s strengths. I am passionate about helping people understand themselves which can then empower them to make the best decisions for their lives. A diagnosis is an explanation that can lead to greater self-understanding. An honest and accurate assessment can not only lead to greater understanding of oneself, but it can also open the way for a treatment plan that can help each client grow and experience a more fulfilling life as their unique self.

My passion is helping others and my community. When I’m not with clients, I volunteer at a local animal shelter helping pets with socialization and helping people from my community find their next best friend.

Education & Licensure
PsyD and MA in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles; BA in Psychology from University of California Los Angles
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I am drawn to working with these clients after noticing a gap in the services available to autistic adults who have left school, both among my neurodiverse clients as well as the neurodiverse adults in my personal life. I want to help autistic adults find a way to both receive help they may need in life, as well as understand themselves better, particularly those who have long struggled with feeling “different”.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I work from a client-centered approach which encourages a safe and supportive environment in which clients feel heard, valued, respected, and comfortable being authentic. I believe that recognizing and emphasizing our individual, unique strengths and perspectives can help build deeper self-understanding, which supports meaningful change and improved quality of life.
