About

Hi, my name is Angela Gerritsen. I’m a licensed clinical social worker in Utah, and I work with teens, adults, and families who are going through big life changes, grief, trauma, or struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, dual diagnosis, or coping challenges that feel overwhelming. As a trauma-informed therapist, my goal is to provide a safe space where you can share your story, process past experiences, and learn skills to feel stronger, calmer, and more connected in your daily life. Together, we’ll create a plan that fits your unique journey.

Education & Licensure
Master's degree in School Work from the University of Utah.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

During the past ten years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many different types of people living with symptoms of distress due to a variety of different reasons, isolation and disconnection being one major reason for suffering. I’ve had experience working with individuals with autism and neurodivergent individuals. I believe neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of being human—not something that needs to be “fixed.”

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

In therapy, my goal is to create a space that feels safe, clear, and respectful. You don’t need to mask, explain yourself perfectly, or meet any social expectations here. You are welcome exactly as you are.I work collaboratively, which means we will decide together what feels helpful for you. I can explain things step by step, adjust my communication style, and move at a pace that works for you. You are always allowed to ask questions, ask for clarification, or say when something doesn’t feel right.Sessions are structured but flexible. I can offer clear agendas, written summaries, predictable routines, or fewer open-ended questions if that’s helpful. If you have specific access needs, we can talk about them together. Starting therapy can feel uncertain or overwhelming. My role is to help make the process understandable, collaborative, and supportive.
