About

Hi, my name is Angela Gerritsen. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Utah, and I'm driven by genuine care for my clients' dignity, autonomy, and understanding. My approach is simple: I meet clients where they are, not where systems expect us to be. I value and am honored to work with neurodiverse and autistic clients, recognizing the impact of cultural expectations and trauma histories on lived experiences. In our therapeutic space, my goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and empowering environment where you can see yourself as not broken, no need to mask, explain yourself perfectly, or meet social expectations. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My purpose, privilege, and passion are driven by my belief that clients have ultimate worth! During the years I’ve worked with many different clients living in a culture that can be dismissive, and this creates mental health symptoms, some of which are due to isolation and disconnection, which is a major component of suffering. As a trauma-informed therapist, my goal is to provide a safe space where clients can share their life experiences, process past trauma, and learn skills to feel more confident, heard, and more connected in their daily lives.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I focus on understanding and building on each client's strengths and interests. I value different ways of thinking about the self in the world. I recognize the importance of identity and lived experiences in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that all clients are experts in their own lives and are not broken. My approach is rooted in compassion and curiosity. Clients will increase their confidence in their abilities and find their path and strategies that fit who they are. My hope and goal is to create an environment where clients feel seen, understood, and affirmed, so that each client feels safe to be themselves.
