About

Hello and welcome to my space! I absolutely thrilled that you're here with me. My name is Dr. Andrew Stokes and I currently live in Mississippi. I am licensed in Mississippi and Washington. I am passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to greater well being and self understanding. I am a retiree of the United States Army and I got into counseling and this business as a result of incidents that happened during a deployment. As a clinician, I want to provide a safe and compassionate space for you to be authentically yourself. My goal is to partner in helping you to find your strengths and resilience. I want to give back to individuals a place of sanctity the same way my therapist did for me years ago.

Education & Licensure
EdD in Community Care and Counseling : Traumatology from Liberty University; Masters in Addiction Counseling from Liberty University; Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My “why” for working with neurodivergent adults, including autistic adults, is rooted in my belief that everyone deserves to feel understood, respected, and valued for who they are. I want to create a space where individuals can communicate in ways that feel natural, express their needs, and explore their identities without pressure to fit someone else’s expectations.

‍

As a therapist, I am drawn to the opportunity to listen, recognize each person’s strengths, and understand the challenges that affect their daily lives. My goal is to work alongside clients as they navigate relationships, stress, life transitions, and environments that may not accommodate their needs. That means being curious about each person’s experience and shaping our work around what matters to them.

‍

Ultimately, I want to help people build self-trust, advocate for the support they need, and pursue a life that feels meaningful on their own terms. Everyone deserves a place where they can belong and be themselves.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I bring an affirming and strength-based approach by starting with respect for each person’s identity, lived experience, and ways of thinking and communicating. I listen without judgment, ask what support feels helpful, and collaborate with clients on goals that reflect their values.

‍

In working with neurodivergent and autistic adults, I recognize that strengths and support needs can exist together. I help clients identify their interests, abilities, and existing coping skills while making room for challenges without minimizing them. I also consider how sensory needs, social expectations, and environmental barriers affect their well-being, and adapt my communication and session structure collaboratively.

‍

My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe being themselves, recognize their own capabilities, and build self-advocacy and self-trust. I view clients as experts on their own experiences and approach our work as a partnership.
