About

Hello and welcome! I’m Andrea, and I am so glad you are here. I am a Clinically Licensed Therapist in Alabama and also approved to provide telehealth counseling to clients in Florida. My background includes outpatient therapy, crisis intervention, and supporting individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and adults through many different life experiences.

I know that starting therapy and finding the right provider can feel intimidating. You do not have to arrive with the perfect words or know exactly where to begin. We can figure that out together. I bring warmth, compassion, patience, encouragement, and a little appropriate humor into our sessions because therapy can involve serious work without feeling cold or uncomfortable.

I want you to have a space where you can take a breath, be yourself, and feel genuinely heard. We will recognize your strengths, explore what matters to you, and develop practical tools that fit your life. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling more understood, more confident, and better equipped to create meaningful change.

Education & Licensure
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Studies from Alabama State University; Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Alabama State University
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I am passionate about working with Neurodivergent Clients because everyone deserves to feel understood, accepted, and valued for who they are. Too often, people are judged because they communicate, process emotions, respond to situations, or experience the world differently. You may have been told that you are too sensitive, too quiet, too intense, too distracted, or simply not trying hard enough. You may have also learned to hide parts of yourself to make other people more comfortable.

I want therapy to be a place where you do not have to mask, perform, or apologize for the way your mind works. I appreciate the creativity, honesty, humor, determination, passion, and unique perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring to the world.

My goal is not to change who you are. I want to help you understand yourself, communicate your needs, recognize your strengths, navigate challenges, and build a life that feels comfortable, meaningful, and authentic to you. We will celebrate progress, make room for difficult days, and take each step at a pace that respects your needs.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I bring an affirming and strengths-based approach to therapy by getting to know you as a whole person, not simply focusing on a diagnosis or a list of challenges. I want to learn what makes you feel comfortable, what brings you joy, what helps you feel calm, what drains your energy, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

I believe you already have strengths, abilities, interests, and experiences that can help you grow. Together, we will identify those strengths and use them to develop tools that fit your needs, communication style, relationships, sensory experiences, and personal goals. I will listen without judgment, validate your experiences, and give you time to process without rushing you.

I also understand that every autistic and neurodivergent person is different. I will not assume that one strategy works for everyone. If something does not feel helpful, we can talk about it, adjust our approach, and try something different. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your voice matters.

You can expect me to be compassionate, encouraging, patient, and honest. I will support you while also gently challenging patterns that may be getting in your way. There will be room for reflection, learning, creativity, and laughter as we work toward helping you feel more confident, empowered, and comfortable being yourself.
