About

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Amy Sanders, a licensed psychologist in Ohio. I’m passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, their experiences, and the unique strengths they bring to the world. My background is in pediatric psychology and integrated behavioral health, where I have worked extensively with individuals and families navigating developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns. Throughout my career, I have developed a particular interest in neurodevelopmental differences and in providing thoughtful, individualized assessment and support.I recognize that seeking an autism evaluation as an adult can be a meaningful and sometimes vulnerable step. My goal is to create an assessment experience that feels collaborative, respectful, and comfortable. I want each person I work with to feel heard and understood—not simply evaluated. I approach assessment with curiosity and compassion, taking the time to understand the whole person, including their experiences, challenges, and strengths.I currently live in Ohio and am licensed to practice psychology in Ohio. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with my family and continuing to learn about ways we can make behavioral health and assessment services more accessible and supportive.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with neurodivergent individuals grew from my background in pediatric psychology and my experiences working with children and families with a wide range of developmental and behavioral needs. Over the years, I have seen how meaningful it can be for individuals and families to gain a better understanding of how their brain works and why certain experiences may feel different or challenging.I am particularly drawn to autism assessment because I enjoy learning each person’s unique story and bringing together their experiences, strengths, and challenges to develop a clearer understanding of the whole person. For adults who may have spent years feeling different or wondering why certain things are harder for them, the assessment process can provide valuable insight and a new framework for understanding their experiences. My goal is to provide an assessment experience that is respectful, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming. I want clients to leave the process feeling heard and with a better understanding of themselves, regardless of the outcome of the evaluation.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe that an effective assessment should help individuals feel understood, not defined by a diagnosis or a list of challenges. I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach by getting to know each person as a whole—their experiences, relationships, interests, strengths, challenges, and the environments in which they live and work.I recognize that neurodivergence can look very different from person to person, and I approach each evaluation with curiosity rather than assumptions. I strive to create a comfortable and nonjudgmental space where clients can share their experiences authentically and feel that their perspectives are valued.Throughout the assessment process, I focus not only on areas of difficulty but also on the strengths, skills, and strategies individuals have developed throughout their lives. My goal is for clients to leave the evaluation with greater self-understanding, practical information about their needs, and recognition of the strengths that are an important part of who they are.
