About
Hello and welcome! I’m Amy Plog and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Colorado. I come from a background of working in K-12 education and my passion is promoting positive mental health. I believe in working to change environments so they are more supportive of mental health and wellbeing and in providing individuals with tools to navigate environments that are not a good fit for their needs and strengths. I view the assessment process as one of these tools and as an important step in helping people see how their unique strengths and challenges might interact with systems that may not be built to support them. My goal is to provide you with an experience that feels validating and affirming and leaves you with greater clarity and guidance on possible next steps.
My motivation for working with autistic adults comes from my many years in public education and seeing firsthand the importance of work to create environments that are supportive of neurodivergence. While this work is critical and needed, it is also slow. As a result, I see providing diagnostic assessment to autistic adults as an important way to make sure that neurodivergent individuals are given all the best available information they need to better understand their own unique strengths, and then leverage those strengths to authentically navigate the world as it currently exists.
My approach is grounded in creating a supportive environment where you can feel listened to and understood as your authentic self. This includes recognizing your strengths and validating the challenges you face, including the role that mismatches with environmental demands may play in those challenges. I see assessment as a collaborative process and my goal is to actively listen and learn about you, then provide you with information that can help improve your understanding of yourself.
