About
Hello and thank you for visiting! I'm Dr. Amy. I live and work in the Chicago suburbs and have been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in Illinois for over 15 years. I love what I get to do for a living! As a clinician I take a collaborative, straightforward and strengths-based approach, and strive to provide a safe and empowering experience. I have a passion for working with communities that have been historically marginalized and under served or poorly served by the medical and mental health fields. I believe you are ultimately the expert on your own life and experiences, and I am honored when I get to be a part of the journey toward self awareness and healing.
My motivation for working with adults with autism is driven by both personal and professional experiences. Neurodivergence in all its forms can lead to so many unique strengths and ways of being in the world that are worthy of respect and recognition in our society that traditionally promotes sameness. I have seen the positive impact on the lives of adults who finally feel validated and understood when someone sees and accepts them for who they are. In turn, those individuals have been able to benefit tremendously from embracing their unique strengths and resilience in navigating their world and achieving their goals.
I believe in meeting each client where they are and partnering with them to work toward the changes they want to see in their life. I hold the space and belief that they are capable of overcoming challenges and achieving goals even if they aren't quite there yet. Through true active listening and a place of empathy, I can reflect back the strengths and gifts they have and also bring to awareness the ways they may already be equipped to heal and grow. I aim to create a safe and encouraging space to collaborate with them toward a deeper understanding of themselves that can lead to a feeling of empowerment, healing and positive change. I have been both a clinician and a client, and through my own experience and the experiences of loved ones continued to expand my ability to understand, affirm and support.
