About

Hello and welcome! It is so nice to have you here! My name is Amberlyn Joy Keller. I live in Houston, Texas and am licensed in Texas. I am passionate about working with and supporting people in their life journey so that they can be their best selves. I also feel that each meeting with a client is a conversation that serves a purpose where the client can talk things out, think things through and grow. My goal as a clinician is to create a safe space, for a person to be able to share their story and for them to feel heard and understood. Additionally, my goal is to support each client I work with to develop skills and strategies they can use to better manage their mood and overall health to thrive in life.

Education & Licensure
Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology from York College in Nebraska; Master’s of Arts degree in Applied Research Psychology from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas; Second Master’s of art degree in School Counseling from University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas; Completed her License Professional Counselor (LPC) classes through Lamar University through online education and is fully licensed in the state of Texas as a LPC
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation for working with autistic and neurodivergent clients relates to the fact that I did work as an educator in K-12 education for 14 yrs and much of my work was in special education. I do see a need for services to be provided lifelong for all people from diverse backgrounds and situations. I want to be able to serve you to the best of my ability so that you can thrive in your life and do your own best work that you would like in your life.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I like to focus on looking at a person's strengths and have them actively tap into those in order to help them grow in their lives. This is specifically looking at executive functioning skills and life skills. When people can identify their strengths, and grow in these then naturally, they can feel empowered to grow in other areas they might struggle. To be empowered is something all people deserve to have happen for them. My goal is to listen and actively engaged in validating your feelings so that you feel heard and safe in your counseling experience so that you can shared and express yourself in the most authentic way possible. When this happens, a strong therapeutic alliance is created and the growth that will happen for you will be amazing.
