About
Hello there, and welcome! My name is Amanda Rue, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Wisconsin. I work with autistic and neurodivergent adults, and my goal is to create a space that feels supportive, predictable, and safe for you.
In therapy, we will focus on what matters most to you—whether that’s managing stress, building new skills, improving daily routines, or working toward personal goals. Sessions are structured but flexible, giving you room to talk, problem-solve, and practice strategies that can help in daily life. I see therapy as a team effort, where we set goals together and track progress so you know what to expect along the way.
I chose to specialize in supporting autistic and neurodivergent adults because I noticed how often traditional therapy approaches didn’t fit their needs. Too many systems ask people to adapt to environments that don’t support them. My approach is different: I want therapy to work with the way you think, communicate, and learn.
I view neurodiversity as a strength and a valuable part of human experience. My goal is not to change who you are, but to support you in building on your strengths, developing practical skills, and finding strategies that fit your life.
I start by learning about your strengths, interests, and what already helps you. Together, we build on those supports while adding new tools when needed. In our work, you can expect:
• Clear structure and predictable steps for each session
• Flexibility in communication styles (spoken language, typing, written notes, or visuals are all welcome)
• Integration of your special interests and routines when useful for building skills or reducing stress
• Evidence-based strategies such as CBT and DBT, adapted to your needs
• Practical tools such as:
• Breaking down tasks into smaller, manageable steps
• Using checklists, schedules, or visual supports to increase independence
• Practicing social or workplace interactions through role-play or scripts
• Identifying sensory needs and creating plans to manage overwhelm
• Learning strategies for managing stress, burnout, or anxiety
I see therapy as a partnership. You bring your perspective, knowledge, and lived experience; I bring strategies, tools, and support. Together, we will work toward outcomes that feel meaningful and helpful for you.
