About
Hi, I’m Dr. Allison Pinto, a licensed psychologist living on Florida’s Nature Coast. I’ve been in practice for over 25 years, working with people at every stage of life, from infants to older adults. I’m especially interested in understanding how each of us becomes who we are, shaped by our own qualities, relationships, experiences, and surroundings. I bring a deep curiosity to assessment because I believe the process itself can help you develop a rich and compassionate understanding of yourself. Over the years, I’ve also provided training and supervision to a wide range of professionals who are passionate about mental health, and partnered with people working to create communities where everyone knows and feels they belong.
Many adults have spent years trying to understand why they experience the world differently, sometimes adapting so successfully that important aspects of themselves have gone unrecognized.. I value looking beyond a snapshot of current symptoms to understand your developmental story and how you have navigated relationships and environments over time. For me, a thoughtful autism assessment is not simply about whether you meet diagnostic criteria; it is an opportunity to help make your experience more understandable—to you as well as to others.
I approach autism assessment with curiosity about the particular ways you experience, process, and navigate the world—what comes naturally to you, what you care about deeply, and the conditions in which you do your best. Challenges matter, but I try to understand them in context—alongside your capacities, relationships, environments, and the ingenuity you’ve likely brought to navigating your life. I’ll be clear and direct about what to expect, and you are always welcome to tell me what would make the process work better for you. You are the expert on your own life. Whether or not the assessment results in an autism diagnosis, my hope is that you leave feeling more accurately understood and better equipped to create a life that works well for you.
