About

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Ali Faraz, a licensed clinical psychologist in Florida, currently living in New Jersey. My background as an Air Force psychologist has given me the opportunity to support people navigating demanding circumstances, life transitions, and questions about their mental health and identity. Having immigrated from Pakistan to the United States as a teenager, I appreciate how culture, family, and personal experiences shape the way we understand ourselves. I strive to create a welcoming, respectful space where you can share your experiences openly and feel heard without judgment.

Education & Licensure
I hold a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Business Administration, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My additional qualifications include certification in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE), U.S. Air Force certification in behavioral threat assessment from a military mental health perspective, and crisis intervention certification through the Tampa Police Department.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I’m drawn to working with  neurodivergent adults because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to understand themselves without feeling pressured to fit someone else’s expectations. For people who have spent years feeling different, misunderstood, or working hard to meet everyday demands, seeking an evaluation can be a deeply personal step.As a psychologist, I find meaning in helping people explore those experiences with compassion and curiosity. My goal is to offer thoughtful evaluation that recognizes both strengths and support needs, respects each person’s identity, and provides clear, useful answers. I want clients to leave with greater self-understanding and information that helps them advocate for what they need.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I bring an affirming, strengths-based approach by treating you as the expert on your own experiences. I take time to learn what matters to you, recognize your abilities and interests, and understand the strategies that already help you thrive. You are welcome to ask questions, share preferences, and communicate in ways that feel natural to you.Throughout the evaluation, I consider how your environment, relationships, and cultural background shape your experiences. As a Pakistani American and immigrant, I value the different ways people understand identity and belonging. Together, we build on your strengths and identify supports that honor your needs and goals. My aim is to help you feel understood, recognize your capabilities, and gain confidence in advocating for yourself.
