About
Hi, I'm Dr. Alexa Casey, a licensed clinical psychologist in SWVA offering in-person and telehealth care across the state. With more than three decades of experience, I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families — with a special heart for veterans and military families.
I help people navigate trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges using proven, evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, EMDR, and ACT — always tailored to you. My goal is simple: to offer a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported. If you're thinking about reaching out, that first step takes courage, and I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
My path toward working with autistic and neurodivergent clients comes from genuine curiosity and care. Drawing on my child and adolescent training and years of work with children and families, I've always been drawn to understanding how each person experiences the world differently — and autism and the assessment process are areas I find especially fascinating.
What energizes me most is the problem-solving: finding the right tools and supports that help a person and their family feel understood and equipped. Focusing on this work through Prosper is a meaningful next step — a chance to grow my experience while doing work I find truly rewarding. I believe the best care comes from someone who is both experienced and still curious enough to keep learning, and that's the spirit I bring to my clients.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every person has real strengths, and my job is to help recognize and build on them. Rather than focusing only on challenges, I get to know what makes each client uniquely capable — and we grow from there. I see neurodivergence not as something to "fix," but as a valuable way of experiencing the world.
My approach is rooted in compassion and affirmation. I want every client and family to feel accepted, celebrated, and supported as they move toward their fullest potential — met where they are, at their own pace, as a respected partner in the process. When someone feels truly seen, that's when real confidence and growth take hold.
