About

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Ahmed Darwish, and I am based in the Bay area and licensed in California. I am driven by the belief that we can make the impossible possible. If we believe in and embrace ourselves as we authentically are we open the door to becoming our truest best selves. Often, a clearer picture of how your mind works is what turns that belief into something real. I want you to feel comfortable and respected from our first conversations. I will learn how you think, communicate, and experience the world as a natural part of who you are, not something to be corrected. Together, we’ll go step by step, in plain language and at a pace that works for you, so you leave with answers you can put to use. Your story is your own, and I’ll treat it that way.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I hold great regard for the resilience and spirit of autistic and neurodivergent people. That respect comes from my own life, where autistic friends and family have shown me authenticity, depth, and perseverance. In 25 years as a psychologist, I’ve also seen what happens when an adult finally gets an honest, informed answer to a question they’ve carried for years: the self-blame eases, strengths come into focus, and life starts to fit. I want to be part of that moment for you, and to help you feel understood and at home in yourself.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I start from the belief that you are the expert on your own life. In an evaluation, that means I’m as curious about what you do well as I am about what’s been hard: the talents, interests, and ways of thinking that have carried you this far. I listen closely, ask questions with respect, and never treat your experiences as a list of deficits. You set the pace, and I’ll explain each step along the way, so you can ask questions, take a break, or say “that doesn’t fit” at any time. Because many adults have spent years masking, I work to make this a space where you don’t have to perform or explain yourself. As someone with autistic loved ones, I bring both personal understanding and professional knowledge to this work. When we go over your results, my focus is on helping you see your strengths and needs clearly and use them in ways that fit your life.
