About
Hello and welcome! I'm so glad you're here. I'm Dr. Abbey. I'm a Licensed Psychologist in New York City. I am passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves and navigate life's challenges with confidence and self-compassion.I earned my doctorate in Psychology and conducted research on neurodevelopmental differences, bullying, and equity in mental health assessment. These experiences have shaped my belief that every person deserves a space where they feel heard, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. My approach is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I strive to create a space where people feel heard, respected, and understood.I am particularly interested in helping individuals gain insight into their strengths while developing practical strategies that improve daily functioning and quality of life. I believe in the importance of considering the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, and I bring that perspective into my clinical work.
What I enjoy most about this work is partnering with people as they develop a deeper understanding of themselves and discover new ways to thrive. What drives me most is helping people recognize their resilience, develop confidence in their abilities, and create lives that feel aligned with their values. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward greater clarity, balance, and fulfillment.I believe that every individual deserves compassionate, personalized support, and I am honored to be part of that journey.
I bring an affirming and strengths-based approach to my work by viewing assessment as an opportunity to help individuals better understand themselves, not simply identify challenges. I believe that every person has unique strengths, abilities, and ways of engaging with the world, and I strive to ensure that these are recognized and highlighted throughout the evaluation process. My goal is to create an environment where clients feel respected, understood, and comfortable sharing their experiences. I approach each assessment with curiosity and compassion, taking the time to understand the whole person within the context of their strengths, interests, values, and daily life. I work to provide a balanced and meaningful understanding of how an individual's strengths can support their growth, success, and well-being. I hope that the evaluation process leaves individuals with greater self-understanding, validation of their experiences, and practical information they can use to advocate for themselves and access supports that align with their needs and goals.
